The 75th Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast Sunday night (we had to look it up) and will be hosted by Seth Meyers. As if that weren’t incentive enough to find something else to watch, Meyers has reportedly promised a “politically charged” telecast.

You’d think at this point they’d just call the whole thing off rather than risk Meryl Streep calling Harvey Weinstein her “agent and God” and giving a standing ovation to Roman Polanski again.
Twitchy founder Michelle Malkin summed things up nicely:
Because what Hollywood has been really, really lacking are politically-charged narcissism-fests in which politically charged liberal elitists give each other politically charged awards and deliver politically-charged rants… https://t.co/8G8psbVaHX

They really might as well hold the event and forget the TV cameras, since they only ever address each other.
This is big. If celebrities start getting involved in left-wing politics, it could be a big win for Democrats. https://t.co/k23hiEx4Il

It's about time Hollywood used an award show as a political platform! https://t.co/ZNcBsYPWze

So, business as usual? Meh. https://t.co/fmwrvzYvJl
— Kimberly Ross (@SouthernKeeks) January 4, 2018
That should work well for them like all the other politically charged shows and movies have. https://t.co/2196C9Cun2

Everyone I talk to complains entertainment isn't infused with enough politics. https://t.co/NaiUhJLuX7

I was extremely worried that I would get a break from our toxic politics 24/7. Now I don’t have to. https://t.co/5Fvoi2FTMQ

Just what we all wanted! I love when celebrities force their views down our throats! https://t.co/IRtoZxQUZM

By all means, make everything about the show an exhibition of Trump Derangement Syndrome. I'm sure it'll work out great as far as ratings and getting people to see things your way are concerned. https://t.co/aG3kBMp9ve
— Chad Herman (@ChadHerman) January 5, 2018
It's almost like they don't care about ratings anymore.. https://t.co/GiVgfaaWsr
— Brittany (@abitofbrittUS) January 4, 2018
This will definitely increase ratings and sympathy for Hollywood. https://t.co/cm16q2P2ls

He just promised low ratings in fly-over…. but then #Demorats don't care about us, do they #boycottTheGoldenGlobes https://t.co/Nhe6XUNLFX

didn't last years golden globes have the lowest ratings in the history of the entire awards show literally because of this exact reason? also I dont know who seth meyers is https://t.co/2ohPrgrz6a
— randomfox (@randomfox) January 5, 2018
#GoldenGlobes: We took a massive ratings hit last year, because it turns out people don't like when celebrities use their influence to dictate politics.@sethmeyers: Soooo, what you're saying is that we need to make it MORE political this time?… GG: Exactly… https://t.co/M6CISQ2ftt
