admin answers:

You need every food group every day to be healthy.
Sweety, you need meat, pasta, veggies and fruit every day.
Here’s my typical day:
Breakfast – bowl of cereal (yes you need the calcium from the milk)
Lunch – meat, cheese
Afternoon snack – fresh veggies with Ranch
Dinner – meat, pasta, frozen/canned veggies w/ glass of milk
If I get hungry later, fresh fruit.
If you eat less, your body will store fat to make up for the nutrition you’re not getting. Your daily diet is NOT healthy.
PLUS – you’re only 14!!
Wait a couple more years to really stress about your body. You’re still going thru puberty. At 14 my brother was chubby but within a couple years he was thin. He is still, very thin.
You’re too young to be obsessing like this.
Chill out!

omg now he says I can only have leftover spaghetti…I hate you bro.

He has a serious problem. You klnow you are a human being too.If he is on a diet or some crazy thing it is not your fault.Threaten to have the police called for neglecting and try to sound confident in what oyu are saying.Show him by being in charge does not mean to be in charge of YOUR life.He has a big problem!Tell him also that you will make him something to eat he might feel good about this. Also by the way now you know what he does and does not.Next time he will be put in charge keep a hidden box [it could even be a shoe box]with snaks like nutrition bars candy water bottle and other things that do not spoil.Keep them there for a long time and remeber to keep adding fresher foods and dispose of the not so new ones. You could get sick of eating rotten or spoiled things.Good luck with your mad brother.Hope this works.( :

I started a workout (Insanity) and i need help…?

Simply, I have started a workout named “Insanity” I am 16 years old, 136 lbs, 5’6 and 1/2 . Everything is going well. If you’ve seen from my older questions I’ve lost some weight. Now I here’s the problem The workout is amazing and it makes me feel amazing. BUT there is a diet plan and nutrition thing you’re supposed to follow. Also you need to buy this protein shake called “Shakeology”. Which is pretty damn expensive, but worth it. I do not at all have the money for it, so please don’t say “Save up”. Because I don’t want to waste my money on something im only going to use a few times. I am highly determined to lose my weight. and am confident I will, and I’m not going to quit until I get the abs I always wanted. So anyone have any tips or something that won’t be taking money out of my wallet? Or a different diet I should be on?

admin answers:

You don’t need to buy Shakeology. It’s supplement that is extremely nutritious – not a protein shake. I prefer the Insanity guide to P90X because it’s a little simpler to try and follow but it isn’t necessary to follow exactly. The reason is that the main principle is to eat carbs:protein:fats to a ratio of 40:40:20. Whereas P90X has a variety to choose from depending on your goals.

Saving money? Don’t go out to restaurants and clubs and bars and eat and drink crap. Healthy food is more expensive than crap food, yes, so take the time you have spare to find the best quality ingredients at the lowest price. Just make sure you eat fruits, vegetables, wholewheat/grain, lean protein and healthy fats. It’s not that hard man.

What other “diet” do you need? What “tips” do you need? You’ve said yourself that you love the program, so follow the program, eat clean and you’ll get “the abs” you’ve always wanted my brother! It might take longer than 60 days, or 90 days, or 120 days, or 365 days. Just don’t go from programs like Insanity or P90X to crap like McDonalds and Burger King.

How to tell my parents im depressed again?

Im 13. Im on depression medication and my parents think im okay again but im not. I used to self harm/be anorexic/had 4 attempts of suicide.

Now they think Im better after medication and therapy. But I’m far from that. I want to kill myself. I don’t want to tell my family though, because ever since they’ve thought im okay our house has been problem free and they’re happy again. When I was depressed and they knew about it our family life was a mess. I don’t want to go through that and more important I want them to feel happy and I also have a 5 year old brother and I want him to be okay too. I just dont know where to turn.

admin answers:

Talking to your parents will be much better than dealing with this yourself, trust me. Keep in mind that therapy takes complete dedication to yourself despite the ups and downs that will come during your improvements. It is also important to keep in mind that there is no perfect cure-all for depression. Most depressions and anxiety disorders tend to make their way to the surface time and time again in your life, but if your toolbox if full of skills and help there is no need to panic.

Here are some helps:
-Prescription Medication (are you still taking it? Your dosage may need to be changed if your feeling depressed again so talk to your doctor)
-Group or private therapy. (Your therapist is a good person to turn too because you don’t have to worry about them having expectations like your fam)
-Take care of your physical body. The physical and mental parts of the body are so very connected. What happens to one happens to the other. When dealing with emotional/mental illness, it is more essential than ever to get proper sleep and nutrition.
-Keep a journal-looking back at your positive thoughts and feelings will help you on your worst days.
-Keep a gratitude journal. (you can think of ONE thing every night to be grateful for)
-Look for the the support in others. Reaching out to those we trust helps to share the burden, holds us up when we feel we may fall, and helps us not feel alone. I also found that my experience has helped me reach out and understand others. I’ve simply been amazed how many people I’ve been friends with for years also deal with what I deal with.
-Don’t become a recluse. Be around other people, especially those who lift you and make you laugh. Endorphins are great!
-Have something to look forward to every day. Do creative things, make music, enjoy a candy bar, watch a comedy or read a good book, plan a trip, have lunch with a friend.
-Have confidants that hear you out. Choose those who are good listeners and will keep your confidences. Talk therapy with a professional or good friend is invaluable.
-Fake it til you make it. Don’t dwell excessively on your own problems in talking with others.. Be interested in others. Find positive aspects to situations which upset you.
-As much as I dislike it, exercise really is essential to mental health. So is fresh air and sunshine.
-Seek spiritual help. Know that God cares a lot about you.

Know that many people like you have felt the same things you’re feeling, including me. Take it from me-it does get better. Really it does. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. I wish you the best of luck!
