Your Questions About Tattoo Meaning Family Symbol

Donald asks…

I want to get a tattoo of a symbol that represents family. I’m not sure which ones do. Help?

I’ve been looking for a symbol that represents family so I can get a tattoo of it. Not a chinese symbol. Anytime I look them up though I get several different ones and I’m confused on if they actually mean family. Can someone point me in the right direction please?

I was going to suggest the word ‘ohana’ like from Lilo and Stitch haha but I don’t know if you think that’s childish?

Even in a different language?

Tattoo design help for horses and one for family?

There’s two tattoos I’m desperately trying to figure out, one for my family and one for my passion, horse riding.

I DONT want chinese symbols meaning family and I definitely don’t want a horse shoe.

I want to be more original, and so I want something to represent either of these things but in a hidden way.
For example a heart/star design that represents different family members.

Thank you!!

Well you kind of need a idea in mind I would love to help I could design you a tattoo? Find something that represents horses and find something that represents family to you. Or find a picture or anything that means alot to you then get someone to design it for you. Find a design or picture on the Internet you like or means alot to you and change it in a way that you like it and into your style 🙂 if you need help actually designing a tattoo let me know I love doing it 🙂 my name is LJ Jesse Franks you can find me on Facebook 🙂

James asks…

how much would my tattoo cost on average?

Ok, so I have hearts on the side of my foot that I want to get covered up. it was my first tattoo and doesnt mean anything. stupid decision. the hearts are about 2 in in length. I want to get a feather (with blue color) with birds coming out of it to cover the hearts up. Ive been wanting it for a while. my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 years ago and beat it! but then was diagnosed with an incurable leukemia. now my uncle has been diagnosed with the same leukemia and my other uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer. My grandma died in 2009 from lung cancer. so Im getting this tattoo not just as a cover up, but as a symbol of all of my family members to be set free from cancer. it really means a lot to me..

but anyways. I want it along the length of the side of my foot, about 6-7 in and then the birds flying away on the top of my foot. I want it mostly black but with some blue color in it. I know you cant give me a price but what do you think the average price would be? or a price range? I have 2 other tattoos and they were about the same price. my anchor/cross tattoo was $90 and my roman numeral tattoo was $60. both under $100 though. anyone know how much it might cost? just wondering 🙂

admin answers:

It really depends on the tatto artist and place.. Some places charge a minimum $50 fee and then by the hour. Other places charge a hourly fee of around $100..
My best guess would be around $200…

What are some Ojibwa symbols?

I am looking for some symbols specific to my tribe. I am Chippewa and am very interested in my culture but it has been lost in my family. I am looking for symbols specific to my tribe but can’t find anything online.

admin answers:

I don’t understand what you mean by symbols. Symbols, as in logographic language? Like pictograms?

And how is that going to help you with culture? Seems more likely it is for a tattoo……You need to know the stories first. That is the basis of the culture.
