David asks…

Tattoo Ideas??Help please?

now im not a huge tattoo bluff. Meaning, i get tattoos that mean something really.

As of now i only have one

Im looking to get one more on my arm at the top bicep.

What? Well im looking for something that incorporates the elements of Dedication, sacrifice, focus, determination, survival, love, health,

stuff like that. Im 20 years old and i wanna get a tattoo that sums up my experiences to this point. This elements are really what i could think off.

Im open to pictures, and symbols, script is cool but not my interest.

Please help me out. i want something original( To kanji or chinese symbols)

admin answers:

Well since you are asking for SUGGESTIONS and not exactly what to get, the comment above was completely uncalled for. A silhouette or a soldier symbolizes sacrifice and determination. Also, a mother wolf or tigress is protective of her cubs, so you could get a mother wolf/tigress and a baby. If you like i can draw up something and send you the link to it. Just email me from my profile page.

Steven asks…

How prevalent is tattoo removal among people you know?

One of the businesses booming (along with the medical profession and pharmaceuticals thanks to the “hepatitis C-tattoo” alliance) as a consequence of the tattoo-craze is the dermatology industry. According to the American Society of Dermatological surgery, over 50% of everyone receiving a tattoo wants it removed.

Tattoo removal via laser surgery is among the fastest growing areas of the dermatology industry.

Depending on the size of the tattoo and colors used, the laser tattoo removal surgery can be very painful and very expensive. Tattoos performed by commercial tattoo parlors are much more difficult to remove because the tattoo is deeper, the ink more complex and thicker. It normally takes between 10 and 15 laser surgery sessions to remove the average tattoo, but 25-30 sessions are not uncommon, depending on the complexity of the tattoo. When you consider the average single session costs between $400 – $800, the removal surgery can be very expensive, costing as much as $20,000. That $25 tattoo might cost $5000 to remove. And may I remind you, health insurance does not cover tattoo removals – this is strictly out of the pocket expenses. And yet despite this enormous personal cost, most people are so disgusted with their tattoo they’ll literally pay any cost to have it removed.
Plastic Surgeon Tolbert S. Wilkinson, of San Antonio, Texas, who has removed tattoos warns:

“If people only realized how difficult it is to remove a tattoo, understood how costly and how painful tattoo removal is, and recognized that society as a whole still views tattoos as a stigma, maybe they would think seriously before getting one.
Laser removal costs a minimum of $7,000.00 (national average) per tattoo, and takes at least 10 to 15 treatments, spread out over two or more years. Even with this treatment, the tattoo is still visible.” http://www.heloise.com/tattoo.html

Tattoo author Laura Reybold, writes that “. . .an ever rising number of people are so unhappy with their tattoos that they are willing to pay anything to have them removed.”

“Yet an ever rising number of people are so unhappy with their tattoos that they are willing to pay anything to have them removed. Tattoo removal laser surgery is becoming big business for the dermatologists who perform it.”
(Laura Reybold, Everything you need to know about the dangers of tattooing and body piercing, p. 30)

Ronald Scutt, says in Art, Sex and Symbol that even among sailors in the Royal Naval, over 50% regretted ever getting a tattoo. And among the married it rose to over 70%

“From the statistics of the Royal Naval survey, the most significant factor to emerge was almost certainly the incidence of regrets. Out of the whole sample, more than half admitted that they wished they had never been tattooed. In the married group, the figure rose to around 70 per cent.”
(Ronald Scutt, Art, Sex and Symbol, 1974, p. 179)

One article claims that as many as 80 percent of people with tattoos regret their tattoo. (www.spacecom.af.mil/hqafspc/News/News_Asp/nws_tmp.asp?storyid=02-93)

admin answers:

I think age has a whole lot to do with whether you will regret a tattoo or not. The younger you are the more likely you’ll want it off at some point in time. Plus in many ways tattoos right now are a fad.

But to answer your question. I only know two people who have had a tattoo removed. One removed a homemade tattoo by herself. The other one’s parents marched him to the dermatologist and had dermabrasion to remove it.

Chris asks…

I want to get a tattoo that means joy?

I want to get a tattoo that is meaningful to me. I’ve done some research and I thought I would choose something that symbolizes joy as my name means joy. I’m generally an optimistic person so thought this could work quite well. So I did some research into things that symbolize joy.. I really like the idea of getting one of ‘the bluebird of happiness’

‘Blue bird is a widely accepted symbol of cheerfulness, joy, health, prosperity etc. The mythology of the bluebird as a symbol of joy has deep roots back thousands of years especially in the indigenous cultures.’

http://www.joyconnector.com/self-improvement/10-symbols-of-joy-happiness

The only thing is it seems like it’s more of an american thing whereas I’m british so I dunno if that would take away some of the meaning to me? I love nature so a bird would be great! And my favorite colour is also blue. Plus I really want the tattoo to go on my lower back… I want it to be very small as it’s my first tattoo so I don’t want a massive one!! I was also thinking I could get a yellow rose but I’m not too fond on the colour yellow! So I’m a bit stuck! Cheers for your help 🙂

admin answers:

Well, I don’t see how a bluebird would be a bad thing, even if it is more of an Americanized symbol. I wouldn’t even think that far into it; I could see a bluebird on a Japanese person or a Russian person and it’d mean the same thing to me.

Other than that, it seems like a nice tattoo idea to me. You’ve thought about it and it’s not just a pretty tattoo. If you want to incorporate the rose, but you don’t like the color yellow, you could get the bluebird holding the rose in it’s mouth, which would make the rose much smaller (but still clearly visible) and the ‘yellow’ wouldn’t overpower the ‘blueness’ of the tattoo. Hope this helps, good luck.

Does anyone else think that this list is stupid?

This is a list created by St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and if 5 or more of these apply to you or your teenager, you or your child is a Gothic (please note “a Gothic”), and you need reform through the Lord for your soul to be saved, according to them, anyway.

1. Frequently wears black clothing.
2. Wears band and/or rock T-shirts.
3. Wears excessive black eye makeup, lipstick, or nail polish.
4. Wears any odd, silver jewelry or symbols. Some of these include: reversed crosses, pentagrams, pentacles, ankhs, or various other Satanic worshiping symbols.
5. Shows an interest in piercings or tattoos.
6. Listens to gothic or any other anti-social genres of music. (Marilyn Manson claims to be the anti-Christ, and publicly against the Lord. Please dispose of any such albums IMMEDIATELY.)
7. Associates with other people that dress, act, or speak eccentrically.
8. Shows a declining interest in wholesome activities, such as: the Bible, prayer, church or sports.
9. Shows an increasing interest in death, vampires, magic, the occult, witchcraft, or anything else that involves Satan.
10. Takes drugs.
11. Drinks alcohol.
12. Is suicidal and/or depressed.
13. Cuts, burns, or partakes in any other method of self-mutilation. (This is a Satanic ritual that uses pain to detract from the light of God and His love. Please seek immediate attention for this at your local mental health center.)
14. Complains of boredom.
15. Sleeps too excesively or too little.
16. Is excessively awake during the night.
17. Dislikes sunlight or any other form of light. (This pertains to vampires promoting the idea that His light is of no use.)
18. Demands an usual amount of privacy.
19. Spends large amount of time alone.
20. Requests time alone and quietness. (This is so your child may speak to evil spirits through meditation.)
21. Insists on spending time with friends while unaccompanied by an adult.
22. Disregards authority figures; teachers, priests, nuns and elders are but a few examples of this.
23. Misbehaves at school.
24. Misbehaves at home.
25. Eats goth-related foods. Count Dracula cereal is an example of this.
26. Drinks blood or expresses an interest in drinking blood. (Vampires believe that this is how to attain Satan. This act is very dangerous and should be stopped immediately.)
27. Watches cable TV or any other corrupted media sources. (Ask your local church for proper programs that your child may watch.
28. Plays video games that contains violence or are of a role-playing nature.
29. Uses the internet excessively and frequently makes time for the computer.
30. Makes Satanic symbols or violently shakes head to music.
31. Dances to music in a provocative or sexual manner.
32. Expresses an interest in sex.
33. Masturbates.
34. Is homosexual and/or bisexual.
35. Persues dangerous cult religions. Such include: Satanism, Scientology, Philosophy, Paganism, Wicca, Hinduism, and Buddhism.
36. Wears pins, stickers or anything else that contains these various phrases: “I’m so gothic, I’m dead”, “woe is me”, “I’m a goth”.
37. Claims to be a goth.

Apparently, if you have 5 or more, you’re in danger of hellfire. I have 19 of them, so according to these people, I am “a Gothic” and need “immediate reform through the Lord.”
Correction: 20.
