Your Questions About Workouts

Richard asks…

What workouts or weights should you do for soccer?

I want to know what kind of workouts you should do if you are planning on trying out for the highschool soccer team. I also need help with conditioning.

admin answers:

Go to the gym and work out your entire body. You need leg strength for kicking and avoiding leg injuries and upper body strength to push others around and be dominant.

John asks…

What are good workouts to do to incress my max pitching speed?

Im 14 5’8 120lbs. I have played baseball all my life and I think that my max speed is going to be staying the same untill I start doing the right workouts for my arm. At school I do the usual bicep curls, bench and dumbels but are their sertin workouts to increase my max speed?
I know that its not all about the arm, theres the legs and fundamentals too im not stupid!

admin answers:

You can only do so much. Since your only 14 you don’t want to hurt your arm permanently which REALLY happens a lot. Long toss is for sure the best way to increase velocity but not too much. 3 times a week at max. Also invest in a set of pitching bands and do all of the rotator cuff exercises there are hundreds of little workouts your can do with bands and little weighted sand bag balls. But be careful not to do to much it is very easy to hurt your arm

Ken asks…

What whole body workouts can I do without going to the gym?

I cannot afford to go to the gym so I need some workouts that do all the different parts of the body. I own dungbells. I already do various types of bicep & tricep workouts, press-ups, sit ups, plank and side plank.

admin answers:

Add some squats and lunges to work your lower body. It sounds like you already have your arms, chest and abs covered.

Charles asks…

What workouts can i do with jumpsoles that will give me crazy hops, and unbelieveable hops?

Im watching youtube seeing how these people that use jumpsoles get hops s if they were superman. Im wondering what workouts i can do that could get me crazy hops like the people on youtube?

admin answers:

Anything that involves jumping will give you mad hops trust me but my main workouts are just power skips (skips but your knees go higher), High jumps (just jump as high as you possibly can onto an elevated surface (stairs, table, etc), butt kicks (just keep kicking your butt but try and run with it) leg curls (same movement as butt kicks but just stay in place), run with the jump soles on. For added weight, get some ankle weights or start out with ankle weights before jump soles. Other than that, you could also get mad hops by doing squats, calf raises, jumping jacks, chopsticks, and just keep on jumping. Get a mini trampoline instead of jump soles and just keep on jumping. It’ll be fun and you’ll slowly get hops.

What are good workouts to do during winter?
I am 14 and I live in the Midwest. I started running this summer to get toned. Now that my trails are all icy I can’t run. What are some outdoor activites that I can do? And what supplies would I need and which brands are good brands? What should I wear? I like stylish workout supplies.

admin answers:

For outdoor activities you might be hard pressed to find something. If you live near a lot of snow perhaps you could shovel snow for you and your neighbors (maybe making some money too) or try cross-country skiing.

I would recommend working out at home. You can definitely work up a sweat with situps, pushups, certain yoga positions (some suggestions here http://www.fitsugar.com/Yoga-Poses-Tone-Upper-Body-5514990), free weight training, boxing, jumping jacks… Lots of stuff!!
