Fast muscle building to gain mass, I am told, can not be attained only using exercise machines. Machines are meant to provide support and prevent injury. Research I have done indicates that the best muscle-gaining workout stimulates muscle fibers, which cannot be achieved with machines.
In order to build muscles to achieve mass, the stabilizer and synergist muscles have to be used. They are the supportive muscles that help the major muscle perform its job. The bench press ideally exemplifies this. To finish the lift, the major muscle needs the help of the stabilizer and synergist muscles. Without strong stabilizer muscles, the main set of muscles won’t ever gain in size.

From what I have learned, to work out effectively for fuller musculature, you need to stimulate your muscle fibers maximally, which doesn’t happen with machines.
