Howard Kurtz sickened by hate directed at George H.W. Bush

As Twitchy readers are well aware, we’re not the kind of people to shy away from calling media lapdogs out on their left-wing bias. We’re also not afraid to give credit where credit is due. Today, journalist Howard Kurtz wrote a post decrying the disgusting hate tweets and death wishes directed at George H.W. Bush:

I’m glad to hear a spokesman for George H.W. Bush say that we should put the harps away and stop with the advance obits, he’s going to be fine.

But when things looked grim as the 41st president was moved to an intensive care unit in Houston, a wave of pure hatred was unleashed online.

Bush’s single term hardly made him a great president; he had few domestic accomplishments and the economy tanked on his watch. But even if you think he was a terrible president, what explains the sickness of wishing a painful death on an old man?

It’s refreshing to see a liberal journalist admit when his ideological comrades have gone too far. While Kurtz still has a ways to go when it comes to holding the Left accountable, we can certainly appreciate his taking a stand for decency.

Others agree:

.@howardkurtz Agree, sickening! No matter one’s politics, the man served our country, and is ill. Need more civility, compassion

@howardkurtz People are so disgustingly crazy in America these days. How can anyone wish ill or death on another human being of any party?

In his post, Kurtz highlighted Twitchy for documenting the Bush hate. We are committed to shining a light on the true nature of leftism that most in the media are unwilling to acknowledge.

@howardkurtz Don’t you ever read Twitchy? Leftwing hate like that is common on twitter.

Kurtz seemed genuinely shocked by the filth he saw, and rightly so. We hope he’ll continue to keep at least one eye open to liberal hatred.
