<p>Here is a list of the top 7 healthiest foods to feed your kid and why it&#8217;s so healthy:</p>
<p><strong><br />
1. Oatmeal:</strong> A fabulous breakfast food, full of B vitamins, iron, zinc and calcium. Old-fashioned oatmeal offers plenty of carbohydrate for quick energy and high fiber.  Add berries and honey to make it a delicious perfect food for those fast-paced school day mornings!</p>
<p><strong>2. Yogurt:</strong> Kick your child&#8217;s dairy consumption up a notch and include yogurt on the menu. A great source of calcium, yogurt is easier to digest than regular milk, and the cultures (check the label to make sure they&#8217;re in there!) are very beneficial to good colon health. Watch it on the sugar content though.  A great idea is to buy plain yogurt and sweeten it yourself with fresh fruit!</p>
<p><strong>3. Broccoli:</strong> it is one of the best vegetables for anyone, especially growing kids.  It has loads of calcium, potassium, beta-carotene and a wide variety of the B vitamins.  If your child is not a fan of plain vegetables include broccoli in a casserole or put a little shredded cheese on top to add flavor.</p>
<p><strong>4. Protein:</strong> One size does not fit all when it comes to protein. The fact is that growing kids need protein to keep growing. How you&#8217;re going to give it to them can vary widely, according to your preferences. Good choices include legumes, beans (combined with a grain to make a complete protein), soy products like tofu, eggs or lean meat, fish or poultry.</p>

<p>This article does not claim to give &#8220;rock hard abs&#8221; in a week, but instead serves to try to change the views some people have gotten from watching too many infomercials at 2AM.</p>

<li>Y<strong>ou Can&#8217;t Spot</strong>-<strong>Reduce </strong>This means that you can&#8217;t burn fat only from a specific spot on your body. All the sit-ups in the world will not burn the fat on your gut. Bodyfat is lost from all over your body and is caused by a caloric deficit, not from activating a certain muscle group<span id="more-845"></span></li>
<li><strong>Cardio is Important</strong> The key to getting a 6-pack is not in building up the abdominals, but in burning the fat that is covering them. The way to achieve this is is to have a caloric deficit, which can be achieved by both taking in less calories and using up more calories. A form of cardio that is very effective for burning fat and boosting your metabolism is HIIT.HIIT is exercising in short bursts of intense cardio followed by a short cooldown. An example of a session would be a 30 second run, followed by a 30 second jog, followed by another sprint, and so on for 4 to 15 minutes depending on the fitness of person.</li>
<li> <strong>Abs are made in the kitchen</strong> This is the least complex and yet the most difficult aspect in getting a 6-pack. The key to getting a 6-pack is to cut down on food and lose bodyfat. Here are some easily applicable tips:
<ul>
<li>Stop drinking soda and start to drink only water. It can make a huge difference.</li>
<li>Eat 5-6 small meals a day. This helps boost your metabolism and keeps your appetite in check.</li>
<li>Try to find your calorie maintenance level and gradually decrease 100-200 calories per week until your are shedding about 1-2 pounds a week.</li>
</ul>

<li><strong>Sit-ups are useless </strong>Sit-ups are supposed to target the abs but really the hip flexors and spinal erectors are doing the work in the movement. The abdominals are only used isometrically as stabilizers. This means that sit-ups are terrible for your back and do not benefit your abs anyway.</li>
<li><strong>Other Exercises To Do </strong>Now this would be the time for me to plug some new life-changing product or idea, but that is not the point of this article. Here are some ab exercises for beginners to do instead of the traditional sit-up:
<ul>
<li>Crunches &#8211; There are many different types, but try to think of it as pulling your bottom rib directly to your hip</li>
<li>Weighted crunches &#8211; Do normal crunches except hold a plate to your chest</li>
<li>Hanging leg raises &#8211; hang from a bar and pull your knees directly to your chest</li>
</ul>

<li><strong>Don&#8217;t Give Up! </strong>While achieving  your goal of a 6-pack may not be as painless and easy as infomercials may have you think, it is still a very realistic goal even for a beginner. All it takes hard work and determination. Giving up a week after you started will not help you get a six pack or help your your overall fitness.</li>

Cook onions and mushrooms until they&#8217;re soft, then add the wine and cook for 1 to 2 minutes. If you need more liquid at this point add a little bit of the broth.  Now pour the sauce and vegetables over the chicken, and the recipe is complete.  This will serve four, and has only 3 g of carbohydrates with 336 total calories.<span id="more-633"></span></p>

It&#8217;s very simple to make 1 mix together the salad ingredients, mix together dressing ingredients, then toss them together. It makes four servings and has 8 g of carbohydrates in 297 total calories. It really looks delicious.</p>
<p>How about south of the border with South Beach at recipes? This recipe for fajitas includes a soy sauce, a recommendation from a cook in a Mexican restaurant.  1 to 2 pounds of skirt steak or chicken is cut into strips, combined with a medium onion, two bell peppers, quarter cup of soy sauce, 1 cup of wine juice, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, and 2 tablespoons of oil. Combine all the liquid ingredients, added to the meat strips to marinade for about 30 minutes. Then cook on a skillet or grill, the meat first and then the vegetables. This serves five, has 4.5 g of carbohydrates in a total of 307 calories per serving.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For a diabetic a diabetic diet is very important to managing their condition, and in some cases even working towards reversing it.  In general this type of diet restricts calories, while controlling the ratio of carbohydrates and fats.  Here&#8217;s some more information on diabetes in general, and the diabetic diet.</p>
<p>Before discussing the diabetic diet it&#8217;s important to understand the two types of diabetes. In general there are two types of this disease:  type I diabetes is generally diagnosed in children and young adults and was previously called juvenile diabetes, and type II diabetes which is a more common form of diabetes.  With type I diabetes the body does not produce insulin, while with type II diabetes the cells generally ignore the insulin.  Both forms of the disease respond well to a diabetic diet, although it is more likely that type II diabetes can actually be avoided or reversed in early stages.<span id="more-612"></span></p>
<p>In general the diabetic diet is geared towards attaining ideal body weight for controlling and managing diabetes. There is a simple formula for calculating the estimated ideal bodyweight for any person. For a woman begin with 100 pounds at 5 feet tall, at 5 pounds for every inch over 5 feet, while if under 5 feet subtract 5 pounds for each inch under 5 feet.  Here&#8217;s a quick example: a woman who is 5&#8217;4&#8243; tall ideally should be 100+20 pounds, in other words 120 pounds.  For men start with 106 pounds for a height of 5 feet than add 6 pounds for every inch about 5 feet. So for a 6 foot tall man ideal weight would be 178 pounds.</p>

For a person with type I diabetes diet should be approximately 35 calories per kilogram of body weight per day, that&#8217;s 16 calories per pound of body weight per day.  That means a 160 pound man should eat about 2500 calories per day. Type II diabetes requires approximately 1500 to 1800 calories per day for loss, then differing amounts of calories to maintain ideal body weight.</p>
<p>In a general a diabetic diet carbohydrate intake should be about 50% of the daily caloric intake. It is often believed that even lower card-levels are healthier for Diabetic patients, but higher percentages of  fat  in the diet has its own problems.  Sometimes this can be offset by substituting mono unsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fats in the place of saturated fats.</p>

That meant people on a diet often ate foods that were worse than they normally ate.</p>
<p>The Atkins diet shifts the focus. By cutting out carbohydrates people would burn stored body fats. Lose the fat lose the weight. It&#8217;s not just a matter of eating less. But the claims were not true.</p>
