<p>Just to tell you that help for your panic attacks<br />
is only as far away as your next breath.</p>
<p><strong>Breathing is as fundamental</strong> to life as food yet,<br />
unlike food, we so often go through our day without<br />
paying attention to our breathing.</p>
<p>Now, I don&#8217;t mean that you have to sit there and<br />
meditate for an hour.</p>
<p><strong>Just a few deep breaths can do the trick</strong>.</p>
<p>I once watched <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="zem_slink" title="Dan Rather" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Rather">Dan Rather</a> interview the <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="zem_slink" title="Dalai Lama" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dalai_Lama">Dalai Lama</a> and<br />
he emphasized that negative emotions are not a natural<br />
thing like we often think they are.</p>
<p>The Dalai Lama said that when you feel a surge of<br />
anger or sadness welling up inside you, take 5-10 deep<br />
breaths. Think about nothing other than those breaths.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ll find that it&#8217;s impossible to continue stewing<br />
in anger and negativity as you take deep breaths.</p>
<p>Instead a calm and peaceful feeling will overwhelm<br />
you, even if you had been angry just a couple of<br />
minutes before.</p>
<p>Try this any time you feel out of sorts, not just when<br />
you feel anxiety.</p>
<p>Several deep breaths will reboot your system, so to<br />
speak.</p>
<p>If you want something to focus on during those deep<br />
breaths, focus on your heart. Imagine your breath<br />
going in and out of your heart.</p>

<p>As you know, good nutrition is essential for a healthy<br />
life.</p>
<p>There are three nutrients in particular you will want<br />
to make sure to include in your diet to help you<br />
reduce the number of panic attacks or at least assist<br />
you in managing them better and improve your overall<br />
feelings of well being.</p>
<h2>1. B-Complex</h2>
<p>B vitamins are sometimes called the<br />
&#8220;happy vitamins.&#8221; They give you quality energy. Unless<br />
you eat a lot of whole grains, you probably don&#8217;t have<br />
enough B vitamins in your diet so you should take a<br />
B-Complex supplement.</p>
<p><strong>Vitamin B 12</strong> deficiency in particular can cause health<br />
problems, such as depression, hair loss, dizziness,<br />
brittle nails, anemia, etc.</p>
<p><strong>B vitamins</strong> are water soluble so you don&#8217;t have to<br />
worry about overdosing; your body will excrete what it<br />
doesn&#8217;t use.</p>
<h2>2. Omega-3</h2>
<p>The brain needs omega 3 on a daily basis<br />
from the diet because the body cannot make omega 3 on<br />
its own. Omega 3 also helps lower cholesterol and<br />
alleviate depression in some people. It also improves<br />
mental alertness and cognitive function.</p>
<p><strong>Omega 3</strong> can be found in fish such as sardines, tuna,<br />
herring and mackerel. Vegetable sources include flax<br />
seeds and walnuts. Because fish often has mercury in<br />
it, it&#8217;s best to take fish oil capsules 1-3 times per<br />
day with meals.</p>
<h2>3. Vitamin D</h2>

to have your vitamin D level measured by your doctor<br />
to make sure you&#8217;re getting enough D.</p>
<p>If you struggle with lethargy and depression in the<br />
winter you could also consider using a dawn simulator<br />
as an alarm clock.</p>
<p>If you decide to use supplements be sure to discuss it<br />
with your doctor.  Even though there is strong<br />
evidence that nutrients like these help people who<br />
struggle with depression and anxiety, run it past your<br />
doctor first.</p>

<p>So the first step is to make sure that what you&#8217;ve<br />
experienced is truly a panic attack.</p>
<p>Here are some of the common symptoms:</p>
<ul>
<li>&#8220;Racing&#8221; heart</li>
<li>Feeling weak, faint, or dizzy</li>
<li>Tingling or numbness in the hands and fingers</li>

felt strange, like I was going to die. I was in a<br />
crowded restaurant and wanted to flee but somehow<br />
restrained myself. During the drive home I continued<br />
to feel like I was in a tunnel and after about a half<br />
hour it passed.</p>
<p>I called the doctor the next day and he sent me to an<br />
eye doctor, to make sure my retinas were OK. I<br />
continued to have the occasional attack, sometimes<br />
with flashing lights, sometimes not.</p>
