Many diets, like the Slim fast diet, follow this general principle &#8212; having a dieter eat less than they normally burn. Let&#8217;s take a look at the Slim fast diet to see just how effective it can be.</p>
<p>Before determining the general effectiveness of the Slim fast diet let&#8217;s take a look at just how this diet works. Basically it relies on replacing two meals a day with the nutrition shake &#8212; in this case the Slim fast shake. The dieter can eat a sensible dinner, and can also eat two pieces of fruit and the Slim fast nutrition bar as snacks.  In general the plan averages about 1200 calories a day. This is about 500 less than the average female diet and 1000 less than the average male diet.  Even without exercise, which Slim fast recommends, this diet will result in weight loss.<span id="more-584"></span></p>
<p>One of the most important aspects of any diet is certainly present in the Slim fast diet &#8211; ease-of-use. When people can easily follow and easily maintain a diet they&#8217;re most likely to have success with it. This diet also includes drinking a lot of water. The 6 to 8 cups of water called for in the Slim fast diet are healthy.</p>

Most of these are found in the average foods that people eat, but not all are found in the Slim fast shake or nutrition bars.  It&#8217;s also very easy on this diet, and something that many people have done, to cut out that sensible meal. The thinking is that by skipping a meal while still drinking the shakes people would lose weight more quickly. But this is a great danger, because cutting calories to that extent is not healthy. In addition, as already stated, the shakes alone do not provide many of the elements needed in a <a rel="nofollow" target="_blank" title="A Guide To Healthier Eating " href="http://www.audado.com/Title.aspx?titleId=6954">healthy diet</a>.</p>
<p>Some people have found success with a modified Slim fast diet.  This is something like eating two normal meals a day and replacing only one with the Slim fast shake. That can be very effective, especially if the replaced meal is lunch, which many working people often eat at fast food restaurants.</p>
<p>Like any diet, the Slim fast diet can work, but it must be followed with caution. Use common sense.</p>

Modern American life is very comfortable, and requires a lot less effort than life required in the past.  More people drive more places, do less physical work, and have modern appliances and conveniences to carry the burden. When that fact is combined with the high amount of processed  and preserved food that we consume, the result is all too certain. <span id="more-232"></span> Americans are overweight. Obesity is more than just a matter of looks. Being overweight can lead to a number of health problems such as heart disease, hypertension, and stroke. In other words, too much unwanted weight can not only cost you a date, it could end up costing you your life. For this reason, many of us need to consider weight loss through a diet.  And for most people with tight budgets, without much extra to spend, free diet programs are the best.</p>
<p><strong>The most important thing: a healthy lifestyle</strong></p>
<p>There are many free diet programs from which to choose.  Some work, many do not, but all the good ones are best implemented as part of an overall healthy lifestyle.  The best way to lose weight is natural, healthy, simple, and best of all it&#8217;s free.  Lower your caloric intake while at the same time raise the number of calories you burn through exercise.  It&#8217;s going to be nearly impossible to lose weight with only exercise, although you will end up stronger and healthier.  Likewise, if you don&#8217;t add more physical activity chances are you won&#8217;t be able to eat little enough to make a difference.  Combine the two as part of a normal, sustainable routine to take off the weight and keep off the weight. </p>

Eat smaller portions.  That&#8217;s right.  Keep eating exactly what you now eat, but cut down the portions.  Look up the nutrition values of the foods you generally eat and cut down the amounts by enough to lower intake beneath burn.  You can also make a big difference, up to 90,000 calories a year for the average person, by drinking water instead of soda and juice.  Or, if you like tea or coffee drink those.  The caffeine in regular coffee and tea helps speed the metabolism and that means burning calories.</p>
<p><strong>Extra physical movement with going to the gym</strong></p>
<p>On the other side of the equation throw away the ridiculous advice to exercise at least five times a week.  Vigorous aerobic exercise, meaning you work up a sweat, is best as an every day activity at least 30 minutes each day.  Kick that up a notch with extra physical movement such as parking further from the office or stores for a short walk, using stairs instead of elevators, and using hand tools for daily or weekly chores.</p>
<p>There it is, exercise combined with free diet programs to lose weight.  Live it, love it.</p>
