As you know, good nutrition is essential for a healthy
life.

There are three nutrients in particular you will want
to make sure to include in your diet to help you
reduce the number of panic attacks or at least assist
you in managing them better and improve your overall
feelings of well being.

1. B-Complex

B vitamins are sometimes called the
“happy vitamins.” They give you quality energy. Unless
you eat a lot of whole grains, you probably don’t have
enough B vitamins in your diet so you should take a
B-Complex supplement.

Vitamin B 12 deficiency in particular can cause health
problems, such as depression, hair loss, dizziness,
brittle nails, anemia, etc.

B vitamins are water soluble so you don’t have to
worry about overdosing; your body will excrete what it
doesn’t use.

2. Omega-3

The brain needs omega 3 on a daily basis
from the diet because the body cannot make omega 3 on
its own. Omega 3 also helps lower cholesterol and

Omega 3 can be found in fish such as sardines, tuna,
herring and mackerel. Vegetable sources include flax

to have your vitamin D level measured by your doctor
to make sure you’re getting enough D.

I was listening to a program on National Public Radio
recently.  The guest was Dr. David Kessler, former
head of the FDA. He took on Big Tobacco in the 1990s.
The renowned  doctor  is now on a mission to change
America’s eating habits.

Someone called into the show and asked him about the
prevalence of high fructose corn syrup in processed
foods.

Boy, did that set him off!

What Dr. Kessler said next was scary.

High amounts of sweetener–along with sodium and fat-
makes you want to eat more.

That’s why the commercial food industry adds corn syrup
& sugar to any product imaginable. It’s also why Americans
are overweight and diabetes is on the rise.

I first learned about this 5 years ago. My then 62
year old mother developed type 2 diabetes out of the
blue.

The first thing the doctors told her was
she had to lose weight and get off the processed
foods.  That’s right– they said it like she was
hooked on drugs or something.

At first it was rough going. Her sugar cravings were
prompting her to keep eating the same old way.  For about
3 months she kept waking up in the middle of the night

The other day, while I was completing my Turbulence Training workout, I noticed that the folks sweating it out on the cardio machines were going through some interesting rituals. After watching them for a while, it was clear to me why they were doing it: They were doing too darn much cardio!

This got me thinking. And to keep you from falling into the same trap, I came up with the following ” 7 signs that you are doing too much cardio.”

#1. You have to spend 5 minutes before your workout flipping through all the magazines in the gym to find one you haven’t read before.

#2. You know the other cardio addicts on the machines (the guys you talk to every day) better than you know your own friends.

#3. You know exactly how many calories you burn per minute on every machine in the gym. (And you use that information to justify every calorie you eat.)

#4. You dread your workouts more than a trip to the dentist.

#5. The only thing you are losing is precious time – not belly fat.

#6. You go to the gym to watch your favorite television shows while doing cardio.

#7. You’re getting overuse injuries because you keep doing the same activity over and over again every day.

Listen, cardio is not the be all and end all exercise for fat loss. In fact, as I’ve written in previous ETR articles, cardio just doesn’t work.

A big part of your results are going to come from your nutrition. So focus on whole, natural foods, and avoid foods that come from a bag or a box.

Once you’ve taken care of your nutrition, look for workouts that you enjoy and that allow you to build strength, mobility, and fitness. You’ll save time, have more fun, and see a big difference in your waistline.
