Your Questions About Know If You Have High Pain Tolerance

Joseph asks…

Pain of childbirth vs. kidney stones?

I have had kidney stones before and that was the worst pain I ever felt. I have a pretty high pain tolerance but that was just ridiculous. I have not given birth yet though so I can’t compare the two. Is there anyone who has experienced both and can you tell me which one you thought was worse? I know it’s all relative to your experiences and pain tolerance level but I would love to hear what you have to say. I want to have a natural birth with no pain meds. I’m not pregnant yet but just wondering. And I feel like if I could get through kidney stones then I can have a natural childbirth. Any thoughts?

admin answers:

We were taught they were both equal – 10.
We were told it’s one time a man can feel/realize how painful childbirth contractions are.

Laura asks…

Bad stomach pain for two days?

I’ve had very bad stomach and back pain for 3 days. It started out with getting sharp pains in my stomach, and I just thought they were really bad gas pains. The following day I had the same pains, but was going to the bathroom fine, and they weren’t to bad. Then this morning when I woke up my back hurt so bad I wanted to cry, and I have a pretty high pain tolerance. I could barley sit up straight and when i came to bending over forget about it. I ended up just going in for the first 15 Min’s of class to take a test, and leaving. I thought with a bit of sleep I’d feel better, but after a long nap I still didn’t feel good, and the back pain was at it’s peak again. Now my stomach is back to acting up and it hurts to even go to the bathroom, I have to like hunch over ’cause moving any of those muscles hurts to bad. When i was in the car with my friend today, every little bump made me wince in pain, and with every step I can fell a pain in my stomach area. It’s not pin pointed to one area, but I can feel sharp pains every now and then.
Other than that a few times this week I got bad headachesa couple of times, I’ve been having to pee a lot but sometimes that is normal for me. I’ve also been wicked sleepy, and last night I felt a little hot to the touch, but I don’t know if that was a fever and if it was I haven’t had one all day.
I just want to know if anyone has any idea what this could be. Or if it is just something I should wait out and my stomach is upset. I’d go to the hospital, but my mom doesn’t think it seems like that big of a deal, and I need her to take me. I’m old enough to go by myself but don’t have a way to get there. She told me unless I’m vomiting or running a consistant fever that I don’t need to worry. …But I am worrying.
Do you think it could be syptoms of something and I should bring w/e it could be to her attention I thought, maybe appendicitis, but I hear it hurts really really bad and I don’t know if what I’m feeling is quite that painful.

admin answers:

If I have to come to your place of residency and drag you to the hospital/doctor myself I will do that. Why do people come on here with symptoms of this magnitude and suffer through such great pain without any thought of visiting the doctor? Please go and see one you’re making me feel bad for you. Take care of yourself and I hope and pray it isn’t anything serious. I was also going to suggest appendicitis as well but your symptoms sound somewhat different. Good luck.

Jenny asks…

What was this pain? :(?

Ok so I’m just gonna say this first, I’m 17 and pregnant. I was also underweight for my height before I got pregnant. Now, I’m 30 and a half weeks pregnant and the other day I got a very severe, sharp pain in my stomach, but it was mostly in my lower stomach and I felt pressure in vaginal area. This pain was so bad that I could not stand up or even move and I had trouble breathing. It lasted for about 3 or 4 minutes. My boyfriend thinks it was a false contraction but do they usually last 3 or 4 minutes? I have an extremely high pain tolerance so this amount of pain really worried us both. It has happened twice since that but never quite as severe. Does anyone know what it is? or has anyone experienced that before?

And if you have judgmental comments to leave about my age, I’m honestly not interested. I was just wondering if my age and being underweight could have had something to do with the pain

admin answers:

It could be premature labor, specially with that intensity, and if it has also happened again. You should be checked by your doctor as soon as you can, and be on bedrest to avoid a premature labor.

Sometimes urinary track infections, or a sist that occurs ONLY during pregnancy (in your ovaries) can cause a sharp pain like the one you experienced, those type of sist will go away once you deliver the baby, that’s why is best to go to the doctor so they can do an ultrasound to find the problem. In the meantime stay off your feet, hard work, carrying things, going/up down flights of stairs, hyperventilating or increasing your heart rate too high, DO drink a lot of water, you may also want to cut back on sex until the doctor tell you is safe.

I gave birth to my first son when I was 17, I’m now 39.75 wks pregnant with my 6th child.

God bless you & good luck!

I have a throbbing pain in my stomach

Hello. I have a pain in my stomach that is unbearable, it comes in waves and gets worse and worse and then fades and goes away. This is the second time that I have had the pain, the first being the weekend after the 4th of July.

It is so bad that when it comes I tell myself if it does not stop I am calling an ambulance. It feels like I am wearing a belt below my belly button and that it is really tight. It throbs, but not with my heart beat, it hurts more when I breath, and I have to sit down, and make sure I am breathing so I don’t pass out.

I have a really high pain tolerance, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the worst its a 10 for sure. I have my septum pierced and that was a 5. Just to note the pain factor. I broke my arm and that was an 8. If you know what this is or can point me in the right direction let me know.

I used to think it was cramps of some sort, I have PCOS but I don;t think it is related.

I have no health insurance so I need to know if this is serious before I decided to throw myself into debt. Ha.

Thanks everyone.

Thanks everyone. Its in the middle, I noticed that it is not near my back at all. From side to side, all away across my abdomen right below my belly button.

I am worried something is really wrong, now that this has happend twice.
Thank you JenandLance. Gas is a good idea. Maybe thats it I take meds that give me gas. lol. Thanks a lot for your input everyone!

Nancy asks…

Vaginal pain and frequent urination? please help if you know what this could be?

So a few days ago I had terrible stomach pains. like they hurt so bad i wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. I usually have a high pain tolerance (Im a female wrestler) but this was BAD. then the next day it stopped hurting. For the past couple days though (ever since the stomach cramps) Ive had to urinate at least every hour but when I go only a little comes out and it hurts like someone is stabbing me in my pee hole with a needle. It really hurts! Also I noticed a few times it smelled really bad. There is no blood and it is light colored. Anyway, it is interfering with my school and wrestling cause it hurts and I have to run to the bathroom every chance I get so Im late for class alot. Also I am only 15 and I AM a virgin just so you know. But what could this be? What should I do to help?

admin answers:

First of all tell your mom or school nurse. It sounds like urinary track infection.Drink lots of water. Cranberry juice will help too.But you should see a Dr anyway just to make sure it isn’t something more serious.I sometimes get it if I wear tight pants or colored panties. So always use white toilet paper and unscented tampons or pads.and make sure the under ware have a cotton panel in them.
